MOOSIC -- This is the night for die-hard fans waiting in line.

Even though Friday is officially the opening day for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," there are early showings of the film Thursday all across the county which has led to lines like the ones at Cinemark in Moosic.

One of the managers at Cinemark told Newswatch 16 they have been planning for Star Wars for two months, and expect to see 12,000 people come out to watch it just this weekend.

Several Thursday screenings have sold out, with several others expected to be completely filled.

"The Force Awakens" is the first Star Wars movie in 10 years.

Total advance ticket sales in the U.S. and Canada now stand at more than $100 million and experts predict that total ticket sales could top $3 billion because the movie brings in fans of all ages.

We ran into those who saw the original Star Wars movie when it was in theaters in 1977, as well as seeing kids experiencing Star Wars in theaters for the very first time.

"It's out. I can't believe it! My father is pumped up, I'm pumped up. Everybody is pumped up to see this movie," said Kevin O'Shea of Archbald.
