SCRANTON -- Former President Bill Clinton was in Scranton Thursday raising money for his wife's presidential campaign.

The fundraiser is taking place at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, but if you don't have between $500 and $2,700 to get in, you'll probably be stopped at the door.

It's a private event for contributors to Hillary Clinton's campaign. Neither the public nor the press are allowed in.

Clinton arrived just before 5 p.m. Thursday. He flew in from Pittsburgh where he attended a similar event earlier in the day.

To attend the event, supporters had to buy tickets with prices ranging between $500 and almost $3,000.

We got a look inside the ballroom where the event is being held. There's seating for about 100 people looking to support Hillary Clinton's bid for president.

"Hillary and the president have a strong relationship with Scranton and we're here to support them," said Scranton Mayor Bill Courtright. "It's good to have him back and we hope to see him more in the future and we hope to see Hillary more in the future also."

Clinton spoke to a group of about 200 people at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel.

It was a private event, closed to the public and the media. Tickets reportedly cost between 500 and 27-hundred dollars.

"They love to come to Scranton and I've met him on several occasions and we're just here to support Hillary," said Paul McGloin of Scranton.

Bill Clinton was last in Scranton in 2012, when he spoke at Scranton High School, stumping for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Hillary Clinton has ties to Scranton. Her father was raised in the city. The family had property in the Lake Winola area, too.

"Her family had a cottage up there. I think it's nice that he's supporting his wife," Ann Marie Albert of Lake Winola said.

Those in attendance say the former president spoke for about 45 minutes about his wife's achievements and why she's the best choice to lead this country.

Afterwards, he spoke with people one-on-one.

"I thought it was just going to be a quick handshake and a picture. Next thing you know, he wants to engage me in conversation like he cares and that's a gift and I walked away thinking he does care and that's why I'm a real Clinton fan," said Dr. Paul Mackarey of Dalton.

Democratic officials say the Clintons see this area as a very important one. During the 2008 presidential primary, Clinton beat Obama in Lackawanna County by a margin of about 3 to 1.

"Personally, I think she's going to win. We're really going to work hard for her, especially in Lackawanna County here and I think she's gonna win!" McGloin said.

Both Hillary and Bill Clinton have visited the Radisson in the past and politicos in the Electric City expect both of them to visit the city again in 2016.
