EAST STROUDSBURG -- Student athletes at East Stroudsburg University are taking a time out from sports and their studies to help kids in our area celebrate Christmas.

"As athletes, we're a big part of the community and we just love to give back. It's just something that we feel we need to do. It's something we love to do," said Emily Howell, Student Athlete Advisory Committee president.

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee from East Stroudsburg University is throwing this holiday party for more than 100 kids between the ages of 3 and 5.

"It's a lot of fun. The kids love it. Just the joy on their face, it's just amazing."

Of course, every kid sat on Santa's lap and put in a request or two.

"I telled him I want a Barbie Dream House and toys inside my Barbie Dream House," said 4-year-old Mia Beaver.

Not only did these kids get to meet with Santa, they also sat side by side with the student athletes and worked on Christmas crafts.

"They're making a wreath so that they can put their picture in it. They're also making a picture frame that can go on their refrigerator," said senior Adam Robertino.

The student athletes raised the money to make this all possible and say it's a nice time out right before finals.

"It's a good time for us to actually hang out with some little kids, make their day. I think it's really fun."

With gifts in hand, these smiling little ones have only one thing to say.

"Thank you," said 4-year-old Bronell Hineline.
