SHENANDOAH -- Santa Claus came a little early to one part of Schuylkill County. Santa and two elves skydived right into Shenandoah Friday.

In an entrance fit for the top elf himself, Santa and two elves switched out their sleigh for an airplane, skydiving from above and landing right on Veterans Memorial Field in Shenandoah.

Hundreds of people were there to watch the big entrance.

"It's very nice," said Kathy Grose. "There is not very much for the kids to do around here, so it's nice for the kids to have this to come to."

"I think it's great because the kids love to see the paratrooper coming down and I think it's just a good thing," added Stanley Michalik.

The event kicks off the holiday season in Schuylkill County and is sponsored by Mrs. T's Pierogies.

Many of Santa's helpers also showed up for the fun, including some reindeer, Frosty, and Santa's best helper Mrs. Claus.

"It's fun to be with your family," said Cassidy Tobias.

"I like to spend time with my family and friends," Aaryn Nickerson said.

Not only did Santa skydive into Shenandoah, he also paraded through the streets. People here think this event is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

"It's nice. We got to see reindeer, snowman, little things," said Vanessa Boyle of Brocton. "It's nice to keep the kids busy and I think it's a nice event."

Bands, fire trucks and more entertained people throughout Shenandoah after Santa's big entrance.

"I think it's very important for the children to be able to get out and mingle with other children and to be able to enjoy an event like this," said Grose.

The skydiving show was just the start to days' worth of Christmas events happening throughout Schuylkill County.    Click here for more.
