SCRANTON -- Stores and malls in our area all are fighting for business this Black Friday, and that includes The Mall at Steamtown in downtown Scranton.
Shoppers had their arms filled with Black Friday deals at The Mall at Steamtown.
Some say they were curious to see what this mall had to offer for one big reason.
"I heard that they were selling the place and then somebody bought it and it's kind of coming back, so we always give our business here," said Margaret Kowalski.
Kowalski was visiting family for the holiday and took advantage of the deals.
"A comforter, four pairs of shoes, pillows, pillow cases," Kowalski said, listing the things she's picked up so far.
Many were impressed and say not fighting huge crowds made visiting this mall an enjoyable shopping experience.
"There are a lot of good prices, everything is just starting to become a lot better now," said Kimberly Kowalski.
Shoppers hitting the Mall at Steamtown this Black Friday may notice something other than the sales; there are also a few stores making a comeback.
The All About Sports and Collectibles store has returned.
So has Cronin's, an Irish specialty shop. Co-owner Breeda Holmes says the vibe in this mall has changed for the better, and business is starting to pick up.
"Now it's getting a little bit busier than it was at 6 o'clock in the morning. We don't see that kind of foot traffic, but you can just tell that people are excited," Holmes said.
Of course, Black Friday is all about the deals and shoppers say this mall didn't disappoint.
"You can't beat the prices, you can't. I mean, I've got to give them that," said Bruce Parker. "I'm not finished yet, I've got to go to the bank and get more money."
