SCRANTON -- With many stores now open on Thanksgiving, businesses aren't seeing nearly as many long lines outside on Black Friday morning like in previous years.

At Sears at the Viewmont Mall in Scranton, the store manager told Newswatch16 they saw about 150 waiting in line when they opened at 6 p.m. on Thursday, but less than a dozen people when they opened this morning at 5 a.m.

This is also the first year that Sears has held a special Black Friday night for club members, which allowed loyal customers to shop all the Black Friday deals at the retail giant on Sunday night for several hours.

The manager credits the short lines Friday morning to the fact that shoppers can now get those holiday presents over the course of a week with things like Cyber Monday and shopping on Thanksgiving, as opposed to one day.
