MUNCY TOWNSHIP -- For some people it's a tradition and some even see it as a sport. However you look at it, Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

There were long lines, large crowds and a lot of shopping bags at the Lycoming Mall.

And for some people, like Crystal Conrad and her friends, it's a bit tiring, considering they'd been shopping since Thanksgiving afternoon.

"We left at 4:30. We had a good lunch and off we went for a girl's night out!" said Conrad.  "You see the bags under my eyes?"

Another crew from Sunbury started shopping before the sun came up on Black Friday.

"It used to be my dad and my sisters-in-law, and now it's all the grandkids too," said Lisa Martina. "(It's) a tradition and we get pizza for breakfast at about 6:30."

But not everyone wakes up at the crack of dawn to shop on Black Friday.

"I looked at the fliers and I just noticed that some of the sales were pretty much the same, so we came out about 8:30 and went to Macy's. Got everything that we wanted," Michelle Pierce said.

That's because, according to some store managers, Black Friday is not just one day anymore.

"We started our sale on Tuesday and it's lasting through Sunday," Jessica Thomas said.

This year the mall's hours were a little different. They opened at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and closed at midnight and reopened at 6 a.m. Black Friday.

People had mixed reactions about that.

"When you're working it, it's a little frustrating, especially as a store manager to try to schedule people and then to give them time to rest and then have them come back in and work," Thomas said.

"People want to shop, go home and rest, and go out and shop again," Martina said.

The people we spoke with got a lot of good bargains.

"You got most of your Christmas shopping done, right? Oh no! Some of it! But I'll be doing it for the next couple of weeks yet," Martina said.

At least she still has Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday to look forward to!
