POTTSVILLE -- One business opened its doors Thursday to those looking for a good meal.

Every year for the past six years, the owners of All American Cafe in Pottsville have opened their doors on Thanksgiving.

For three hours, the register stays closed as people come in to be around one another this Thanksgiving.

"I'm a guy that lives alone so it's important for me to be able to socialize on the holiday," said Ed Zelonis of Minersville. "Some places will deliver you a meal. I don't want that. I want go where there's people I can see and talk with on a holiday."

The tradition has continued even as different restaurants have moved into this spot on North Centre Street. Co-owner Gene Breines decided the dinner just had to continue when he helped take over.

"In the past 15 years that my wife and I have been together, there's been ups and downs and I know what it's like to go without so I don't expect anybody should have to," added Breines.

A lot of the people behind the scenes at the All American Cafe don't work there; they're volunteers.

People including Austin Terraciano, 18, who has never worked at a restaurant, but has been volunteering for this for the past four years.

"I just like helping and seeing them getting their stomachs full," said Terraciano. "It feels really good."
