MONROE COUNTY -- It was a busy day on this Thanksgiving eve as folks were preparing to celebrate turkey day tomorrow!

Many folks found themselves traveling toward their holiday destination or out running last minute errands.

“Are you ready guys? Let’s go!”

At the travel plaza off Interstate 380 in Gouldsboro, it was obvious the travelers here were eager to get to their Thanksgiving destinations.

“We live here in Tobyhanna, A Pocono Country Place, and we're on our way to Fort Drum, New York to see our nephew, grandson, and son-in-law before he goes to Iraq to have a Thanksgiving,” said Joyce Avila. “Oh, and see my daughter, my daughter too!”

AAA says with the national gas average at its lowest since 2008, 42 million people are expected to go somewhere by car for the holiday.

Eric Eiset and his family are from the Philadelphia area and are headed to New York. He said traffic was fine coming up.

“Not bad, it was always moving, a little bit at Route 80, a little bit of a slowdown but not too bad.”

At a rest area off of Interstate 80 near Tannersville, Boy Scout Jason Gonzales hosted a free coffee break station for travelers.

“Seen a lot of people, families, kids, adults, giving food out for them, they say thank you,” said Gonzales.

It was a revolving door at the Village Farmer and Bakery in Delaware Water Gap. Owner Susan Cooper says every Thanksgiving there's a huge demand for her homemade pies.

“Hundreds, literally hundreds of people,” said Cooper. “The apple, of course, is the most favorite. And then pumpkin and then coconut custard,” said Cooper.

And across the street from the bakery, take-out orders were in high demand at The Dough Boy's Pizzeria.

“Nobody wants to cook because tomorrow's Thanksgiving so we've been getting a lot of orders, calling in and everybody's coming to pick up,” said Atija Barzeb.
