WILKES-BARRE -- Luzerne County Children and Youth is taking measures to cut down on the number of complaints against the agency.
At a board meeting Wednesday, members discussed a recent Newswatch 16 story concerning complaints about Luzerne County Children and Youth Services.
Our story showed the number of those complaints to the state last year were much higher than children and youth agencies from nearby counties. One problem: complaints made to the state never got back to Children and Youth, so the agency could not respond to those complaints.
Now, partly as a response to our story and partly as a response to other factors, that will change.
The state will now forward complaints directly to Luzerne County Children and Youth.
The agency promises to respond to all the complaints it receives.
