POTTSVILLE -- Don't expect a cashier to tell you to "have a nice day" at a new spot to grab lunch.
The new shop is inside the McCann School of Business and Technology in Pottsville, but no one actually works at the store.
Students and staff pick out what they want and pay for it themselves.
"We don't have to staff it. We don't have to hire anyone. The services are filled daily, so the hoagies and sandwiches are made each day," said Shannon Brennan, the campus director at McCann School of Business and Technology in Pottsville.
The place is an idea from a company called Canteen and it's called a micro-market. It's been at McCann for about a week. People at the school say it's a great idea since students don't have to leave campus if they forgot to pack a lunch or come straight from work.
"They don't have to get in the car, leave the building, and run to other places in the area and try to come back in time for class," said Kathleen Meskunas, head of the medical program at McCann.
While there may not be a cashier at the shop, the technology still allows someone to watch.
There are at least four cameras to make sure everyone who buys something is honest.
"I think it will work out great. Everyone is pretty honest. Everyone is on the up and up," said student Gwen Shives from Pottsville.
It's only fitting for this new technology to be at a business and technology school. Students say, so far, things have been running smoothly.
"It's very innovative and helpful. It actually makes it a lot easier," said Shives.
The company Canteen is the one in charge of the security cameras and if anything looks fishy, it's the company that will call local police.
