HARRISBURG -- Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane was back in court Thursday in a hearing related to Jerry Sandusky's appeal.

Kane appeared in court in Harrisburg to testify in front of the judge hearing Jerry Sandusky's appeal. Sandusky's attorney was also there.

It all has to do with alleged leaks related to the grand jury that investigated Sandusky.

A major factor in Jerry Sandusky's appeal of his 2012 conviction on child sex abuse charges is that the grand jury judge may have leaked facts about the case.

At the hearing, the attorney general said she has no knowledge of any leaks.

Kathleen Kane, a Scranton native, dodged reporters as she walked into a courtroom in Harrisburg. She testified during a 45 minute hearing about a news release she sent out last week regarding possible leaks by the judge who oversaw the grand jury that investigated Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky's current attorney used that news release last week when he appealed Sandusky's conviction in Centre County court.

The judge in that case ordered Kane to turn over documents and then told her to show up in court.

"The attorney general said she was pleased that the judge was trying to get the facts and that he was trying to get to the bottom of things," said Kane's press secretary Chuck Ardo.

Ardo would not comment on what was said during the hearing because it was not open to the public.

But Sandusky's attorney says the judge asked Kane for clarification regarding her news release. Kane said she had no knowledge of any leaks in the Sandusky case.

"I think the upshot of it was the information he had, and he was concerned about whether his inquiry and my inquiry would get into grand jury information which was secret. It did not," said Sandusky's attorney Al Lindsay.

Ardo says Kane was surprised when she was called to testify. He says Kane did not intend to interject herself into the Sandusky case.

Sandusky is asking for a new trial or even to have the charges against him dismissed. Since Kane says she does not know about any grand jury leaks, Sandusky's attorney does not know what that will mean for the appeal.

"We viewed this as an opportunity to interview someone who might have knowledge and we're gratified to have the opportunity," said Lindsay.

The judge is expected to make a decision regarding Sandusky's appeal within the next few weeks.
