WILKES-BARRE -- Arrests were made Thursday afternoon in connection with shots fired earlier in the day in Wilkes-Barre.

It was just one of several cases of gunfire in the city in the past 24 hours.

The most recent report of shots fired happened on Gildersleeve Street in Wilkes-Barre, near Ross Street. The incident put a nearby high school on lockdown and several other nearby businesses on high alert.

Those gunshots led authorities to storm a senior living center parking lot in Kingston, where they cornered white sedan and arrested Dwight Moses, 39, of Edwardsville. Police also questioned a woman. Folks inside the senior living center watched the arrest unfold.

"You get a little scared, I'll tell you that much. But we locked down the facility and made sure the residents were good and that's all that matters," Joe Kozemko of Kingston.

The reports of shots fired also prompted school officials to lock down Holy Redeemer High School, which sits just a couple blocks away on South Pennsylvania Avenue, as a precaution.

Earlier in the day, police also responded to reports of shots fired on Grove Street, where police found bullet holes on a home. More reports of more shots fired came from Hazle and Dana Streets as well.

Police are also investigating a shooting that happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on High Street that left a victim with a gunshot wound. That victim is now being treated at a nearby hospital.

Police aren't saying if that shooting from Wednesday night and the three reports of shots fired Thursday are related.
