MOOSIC -- In the midst of ghouls and goblins, there was some Halloween fun being had at the Shoppes at Montage.

Stewart Powell, 8, was among the cast of characters collecting Halloween treats in Moosic. He was dressed as a zombie football player.

"'Why are you a zombie football player?' Because I like zombies and I like football," said Powell.

The annual Safe Trick or Treat event drew hundreds of people. Crystal Cumberland from Tobyhanna thinks it's a fun way to get the kids ready for Halloween.

She said, "It's great cause sometimes you know parents don't have time. They might be working on Halloween or things like that."

"I like what they do here. We've been doing it for like the last four years. So it's nice," added Glenn Gosnell of Elmhurst.

According to kids at the event, it was all about the sweet stuff.

Many people here say it's nice to be able to get the kids out to show off their creative costumes.

"We got Shopkins, oh my gosh, Shopkins are breaking my bank account," added Cumberland. "I don't know if anyone else is noticing that but we have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is popular for girls this year so it's great!"

Stewart Powell liked "seeing [the] different characters, different costumes."

Most of the shoppes at the Shoppes at Montage participated. Organizers hope it will continue to be a treat for many years to come.
