The gallery above shows just a fraction of the images uploaded by NASA from the Apollo 11 mission.
Thousands of high-resolution photos taken by Apollo astronauts during their moon visits have been uploaded to NASA’s Flickr account. Sunday, NASA added more than 8,000 images taken between 1969 and 1972.
The process began in 2004 when the Johnson Space Center began re-scanning the original Apollo film.
Demand for higher quality images on the Project Apollo Archive’s site prompted Kipp Teague, who runs the archive project, to upload the entire 8,000-plus image cache in high-res, he told The Planetary Society.
