ROSS TOWNSHIP -- A farmer is still looking for one of his 14 cows that ran off Monday in Monroe County.

The cattle broke through fencing at a farm near Kunkletown Road in Saylorsburg.

State police, neighbors, and rescue workers helped look for the cows.

The farmer, Howard Hummel, says he just bought the herd on Sunday for $9,000. He believes something scared the cows, causing them to run out of the barn.

"Most of it is my fault. I should have put a bigger and stronger gate there, but I thought it would be all right. But don't second chance anything, that's how you get in trouble," said Hummel.

Hummel said two cows died from an overdose of tranquilizer and one cow is still missing.

Anyone who spots it is asked to call 911.
