SCOTT TOWNSHIP -- Tuesday brought rain to much of northeastern Pennsylvania and there is more in the forecast, which for some farmers is welcome news.
At Miller’s Orchards, Amber and Lewis Peregrim say they’re happy to have some moisture.
"We've needed this rain and we're excited to have it. It's a lot all at once for sure, but our chickens are happy, they're out eating worms and you know, the apple trees will be soaking it up so they'll be good!” said Amber Peregrim.
Miller’s is a family farm, with chickens, pigs, cows and more. The rain helped water the trees and plants.
Fall is the busiest time of year at the farm. Pumpkins and other gourds are big sellers and of course, the apples. The dry weather over the past months has made for a bumper crop.
“We have probably one of the best crops in probably 10 or 15 years. The quality is very high and the quantity is, well we're running out of bins to put them in, so that's good,” Lewis Peregrim of Miller’s Orchards.
There is more rain in the forecast this week, which may make things soggy for folks out picking apples or pumpkins or on hayrides, but it’s good for planting.
“We’re getting ready to seed some fall crops, cover crops very soon and the ground is really dry and it’s really hard to see properly so that will be nice to have a little rain,” said Lewis Peregrim.
