WILKES-BARRE -- Authorities are still investigating the cause of a plane crash in Alaska that left three people dead including a man from Luzerne County.

He was a well-known dentist in Wilkes-Barre, who many people say they'll miss.

While authorities in Alaska investigate what led to the plane crash that killed three people including James Specter, 69, of Shavertown, people in Luzerne County remember the popular dentist.

Feliz Brigham owns Oz Pizzeria It's just next door from Dr. Specter's dental office on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. She says Specter would come for lunch often.

"It was a shocker. You never know. You never know when it's your time. It is sad very, very sad," she said. "(He was a) very nice man, very personable. He had a lot of patients that stopped here, before surgery and after surgery. They were very happy with him."

"He was very, very kind and he had a lot of patience with me, which as you can see he needed," said Kathy Gill, a patient.

Gill has cerebral palsy and says Dr. Specter was so nice and patient with her when he was her dentist. She wants to think that even with his death during a fishing trip to Alaska, he had the trip of a lifetime.

"He was coming home, instead of going up. He had a nice time up there, I'm sure. And I feel bad for his family."
