RALPHO TOWNSHIP -- Rest and relaxation are what a holiday weekend should be all about according to Michael Ongcoy and his family from New Albany. They are doing just that at the campground at Knoebels Amusement Resort. Ongcoy says they came a day early to beat the rush.

"We come on Thursday and try to get set up before everybody else gets down here," Ongcoy said.

A spokesperson for Knoebels Amusement Resort says the campground is filled to capacity for Labor Day weekend. Many of the campers say Labor Day weekend is their last getaway before the summer is over.

"This is our trip and it represents our last hurrah for the summer," Larry Zeiner said.

Most of the people tell Newswatch 16 it's a tradition for them to camp here on Labor Day weekend.

"We've done this for 27 years of my life. My grandparents have brought me here since I was a little boy," Ongcoy said. "This is my daughter. She's six and she's come here every year with us now, too."

"It's been over 30 years. We camped up on the hill and we camp down here," Connie Green said.

Connie Green of New Albany said her family is big on tradition. Her great-granddaughter Nevaeh is three days old and came along for the trip. Nevaeh is perhaps the youngest camper at Knoebels.

"You can't get more traditional than that I guess," Green said.

Mostly everyone agreed that the best part about camping here is the family atmosphere and that there is an amusement park just a few feet away.

"We enjoy the rides and we enjoy the water park. It's just a nice weekend getaway," Zeiner said.

Most campers say they will stay until Monday, and then it's back to work.
