DORRANCE TOWNSHIP -- Police have released surveillance video of an armed robbery that happened in Luzerne County.

During the robbery a clerk from the Blue Ridge Truck Stop in Dorrance was tied up.

That clerk had only been on the job for two weeks and was quite shaken by the ordeal.

Police say robbers hit the Blue Ridge Truck Stop in Dorrance Township just after 2 a.m. last Friday.

Surveillance video from inside shows two people walking into the store with their face covered. Police believe it was a man and a woman.

They pointed a knife and a gun at a 22-year-old clerk and then took him straight into a back room.

"They went right into where the prior shift's bag was kept," said owner Edward Button. "They knew where the hidden set of keys were for the manager. They accessed the fire safe and took the bag out."

Button says the robbers seem to know the layout of the store well.

They were in this back room for a total of five minutes and tied up the clerk to this chair just before they left. That clerk had only been on the job for two weeks.

"He was probably scared to death," said customer Eric Broman.

"That caught him a little off guard," said Button. "But he is back to work and he is doing OK."

The robbers were also caught on video surveillance outside the store, just minutes before the robbery happened. The owner says they were standing there for four minutes without anything covering their face. That video has been handed over to the authorities. They are trying to enhance it to see if we can get a better look at the robbers.

"I've never seen anything like this happen before as long as I have been coming here," said Broman.

The owner confirms it is the first time in 23 years that something like this happened.

Broman, who goes there almost every day, has this message for the robbers.

"Stop now, before somebody ends up getting hurt and you end up in jail for a long, long time."

Anyone with on information on who the two robbers in the video may be is asked to call State Police in Hazleton at 570-459-3890.
