The Lancers look like a contender again. Junior linebacker Crae McCracken is creating match-up problems, and big guys like first team all-state guard Dan Harrison and all-district tackle Justin Wood are tough in the trenches.
"This year is exciting now as a former line coach to have an offensive line that people want to come and see. We're also re-placing a few key individuals and that brings about excitement in terms of having young kids step into those positions," said Justin Van Fleet.
"We're going to have to play more as a team kind of depend on each other and not on certain people, and then go and see how it goes. We played together since middle school so I mean we are all really good friends. We all played together. We like playing together," said Dan Harrison.
The four-year run with Kyle Datres the quarterback here in Lancer land is over. Move in junior quarterback Marcus Williams. He's not going to be the same old Datres but he still says he has a breath of fresh air and excitement to run with this offense.
"I'm truly blessed to have all the kids around me that I do. It makes it a lot easier for me I don't have to do everything. Guys like Marty are good receivers. We have tall receivers that can catch the ball so it's good," said Marcus Williams.
Watch out for guys like Nate Krizan, Kevin Anderson and Christian Diggs-all very athletic, and Marty Clark is still the big back in the back field.
"We have a very good junior class and seniors, but we should be just fine this year. Losing Kyle Datres and a couple other seniors we should be just fine," said Marty Clark.
"We should stop the run this year. The only thing is the enemy between our ears. We are more positive this year than any other year. This is my favorite team," said Crae McCracken.
