WILKES-BARRE -- Some patients are being pampered a bit at a hospital in Luzerne County.
Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre opened its new $7 million short stay unit and surgical suite on Tuesday.
The new unit features 14 private rooms with beds, room service, iPads, and free wireless internet access for patients.
Hospital officials hope it will make patients feel more at home and speed up recovery time.
"When they come here, we're looking to get them more in their natural setting, in their own clothing, so that they could be ready to go home sooner and feel that they're healing quicker," said Geisinger clinical coordinator Colleena Jenceleski.
Some of the procedures done at this facility in Wilkes-Barre include plastic, colorectal, and orthopedic surgeries.
