CLINTON TOWNSHIP -- A prison doctor has been charged with sexually assaulting an inmate at the State Correctional Institute near Muncy in Lycoming County.

In June, a woman reported that Donald Stone, 63, of Bloomsburg assaulted her in her cell.

State police say Stone admitted to kissing the inmate after she kissed him, but he claims he never touched her inappropriately.

Stone was charged Tuesday with institutional sexual assault, indecent assault, and harassment.

According to court documents, Stone admitted to troopers that he kissed the inmate twice, saying "I just couldn't help myself," but that he never touched her sexually.

Stone also admitted to state police that he had given the inmate magazines, nutrition bars, and other contraband despite violating prison policies.

Commonwealth Health confirmed that stone left his position at Berwick Medical Professionals near Shickshinny last October.

According to co-workers, Stone left the office he helped found 34 years ago on his own accord.

Newswatch 16 reached out to Stone but have not heard back, even after visiting his home outside Bloomsburg.

According to the Department of Corrections, Dr. Stone was employed by a contractor called Correctional Care Solutions. He began working part-time at Muncy in 2006, then became medical director back in November, shortly after he resigned from his practice.

He was banned from the state prison in Lycoming County in June when the allegations were made.
