LONG POND -- The Poconos are prepping for another busy weekend at the raceway as IndyCar takes over the track for the final race of the summer.

Engines have already revved up--days before the big ABC Supply 500 IndyCar series at Pocono Raceway--only there weren't IndyCars racing around the track.

"It's called a '95 Cobra R, the car was sent through the assembly line in Ford, and there were 250 built. This was number 58 off the line," said Mark Smith of Kutztown.

Smith is just one of the car enthusiasts that brought his Mustang to Long Pond Friday. He took a few laps around the famous triangle.

"It was great. It was like living a childhood dream. I've been owning the car for about 10 years."

This is a combination of several vintage car races on the oval and road course at Pocono, a car show, and the 40th annual Shelby American Automobile Club convention.

Many of these cars have quite the stories to tell.

"This is a '65 Mustang coupe. It was built in Mexico. It has history in the Mexican Trans Am series," said Mike Kincaid from Maryland.

Kincaid said he has had his car over 135 miles an hour.

This vintage festival is just an addition to this weekend's ABC Supply 500 IndyCar race, but many of these drivers say they'll be sticking around for that big show.

Steve Kramer from Maryland drives a '66 Mustang coupe and says it's nothing like driving an IndyCar.

"Well we're doing the infield track, so it's a lot of work. The track is tight, a lot of turns and these cars take a lot of arm strength because there's no power steering," Kramer said.

But these drivers say they're having a blast warming up the crowd for the big race on Sunday.
