PITTSTON -- Rain showers made for a soggy start to the 32nd Pittston Tomato Festival, but still folks turned out for the food, entertainment and games.

“It’s not the best weather for the Tomato Festival, but you know, you gotta do what you gotta do,” said Emily Jobson of Pittston, who had her umbrella handy.

While outside the tents it was soggy, inside things were sizzling.

Arty Baccanari of IIII Guys was cooking up sausage and peppers, something he’s been doing at every Tomato Festival for years.

"The best part of the Tomato Festival is the food court, that's the best part. ‘Cause I'm in it!” he said.

Last year, 50,000 people visited the four-day festival in Pittston.

“I’m, myself, vegan and you know, I find something to eat every night here,” said Tomato Festival Committee Chair Ben Tielle.

"The tradition is just being with people, serving people, meeting people, talking to people,” said John Argento of IIII Guys.

The Tomato Festival in Pittston runs through Sunday, rain or shine.
