EAST NORWEGIAN TOWNSHIP –- Officials say they were called to a home in Schuylkill County early Saturday morning where a man was found dead. Right now, state police are calling the death suspicious.
Troopers filed in and out of a home on Chestnut Street near Saint Clair, collecting clues and processing a possible crime scene.
State Police say Ronald Scott Haslam, 28 of Pottsville, was found dead in a second floor bedroom. Saint Clair Police and EMS were the first to run around 1 a.m.
Neighbor Chasity Rynard says she heard some noise coming from the home Friday night.
"We heard the dogs barking which is fairly normal, a lot of commotion going in the house, but that sometimes is fairly normal also,” said Rynard.
She didn’t see the police until morning, and was startled by the forensic investigators and crime scene tape.
“It's a quiet neighborhood for the most part, so yeah, when you have two young children it's not something you want to wake up to and find out what had happened,” said Rynard.
Investigators have remained on scene for hours collecting evidence from inside the home and talking with neighbors. This police tape still blocks off a section of Chestnut Street.
Dave Holley has lived in the area for 18 years. This suspicious death happened right next door to his home. He says his neighbors case trouble from time to time and people were always coming and going.
"A lot of people, four wheelers, ATV's always all over the place. Noise, They haven't been too bad lately, they've actually been pretty good for a while now,” said Holley.
Now, police are reviewing footage from cameras Holley has on his home, searching for answers.
"I woke up and was walking out the door to go to work and the state police came up and said they needed to talk to me and they've been here all morning,” said Holley
Troopers say this death is possibly drug related. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday in Reading.
Troopers say they have questioned several people who are familiar with Haslam.
According to court records, Haslam does have a criminal past.
