NORRISTOWN -- Attorney general Kathleen Kane was formally charged with perjury, official obstruction and more.

From Norristown, where the charges were announced to Harrisburg to Kane's hometown of Scranton. It's just another sad chapter for the commonwealth.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman called it a sad day for Pennsylvania as she laid out the criminal charges against Kathleen Kane. The charges include perjury, and obstruction of justice.

A grand jury found she leaked confidential information, and then lied to try to cover it up.

Almost immediately, the calls came from the highest levels in Harrisburg that she should resign.

"I'm not sure how she continues to run an office dedicated to justice and law when she herself is having to defend herself against these charges."

Despite the call from the governor himself that she should step down Kathleen Kane vows to remain in office, steadfastly maintaining that she's done nothing wrong.

Patrick Reese, the former Dunmore police chief who is now employed as Kane's personal driver, is also facing charges.

"It's very, very difficult. Legal processes and what's right and what's wrong and there is always a fine line between what's right and wrong but I really wish him the very best," said Mary Lastorina of Dunmore.

Kane is the second attorney general to face criminal charges in the last 20 years. The first, Ernie Preate, is also from Lackawanna County.
