SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP -- It’s the great outdoors with all of the comforts of home, and then some! The Shawnee Inn now is inviting their guests to come ‘glamping.'
"It is basically a hotel room in a tent. There's electricity in the tent, so there are lamps in the tent, there is a bed in the tent,” said Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort General Manager Robert Howell.
They are serving up the Pocono Mountains on a silver platter. Guests canoe to the site down the Delaware River and then curl up under the stars under a duvet cover.
One guest from Long Island says glamping is actually something she’s heard about.
"Yes, never did it, might be interested in trying it because I don't really like regular camping,” said Mena Iadevaia.
Once you canoe down the Delaware, you walk right up the stairs to the camp site, where you'll find the fireplace is lit for you, your tents are all set up, and then dinner will be served.
A concierge of sorts will take care of the work, and bring meals, coffee and snacks. There’s even a place to shower and feel refreshed.
"You have a bathroom, men and women's bathroom. A hot and cold running shower, of course we'll supply all the other things that go with that,” said Howell.
The new program just launched this week and it’s something both men and women seem to like.
"It sounds to me like just a wonderful Idea, you pull up on shore, you get up camp all night and in the morning get back onto your canoe and you're off again,” said Art Burns of New Jersey.
You can glamp your way through the great outdoors during the spring, summer and fall.
