NANTICOKE -- A Newswatch 16 Investigation exposed the Nanticoke Housing Authority spending tens of thousands of tax dollars on cross country trips. Now we learned at least one member of the NHA just returned from another conference more than a thousand of miles away. This time, in Austin, Texas. But at least for now, we can’t find who attended the trip or how much it cost taxpayers.

The Nanticoke Housing Authority describes itself as a "provider of safe and affordable low-income housing."  The authority's job is to use taxpayer money to provide low-rent housing to those who qualify.

But we found the NHA spent big bucks on cross country conference trips--more than $50,000 tax dollars from 2010-2014.

Newswatch 16 has also now learned of yet another trip by the authority. This one to Austin, Texas.

We asked the authority who went, but we did not get an answer. So, we're digging deeper. We submitted a formal right to know request with the NHA to find out how it spent taxpayer money.

Meanwhile, we contacted the HUD to ask if there is a limit of how much tax money can be spent on conferences and trips. We're still waiting for an answer.
