RALPHO TOWNSHIP -- A young man from Snyder County has once again run from Snyder County to Northumberland County all to help wounded veterans.

As the cheers became louder, 19-year-old Devon Blair of Selinsgrove ran faster through Knoebels Amusement Resort near Elysburg. After 23 miles, the National Guardsman used all he had left to reach the finish line.

"It was worth it for all the money we raised for all the people we are going to help. It was fantastic," Blair said.

Back in 2012 Blair was a senior at Selinsgrove High School. For his senior project, he decided to run 23 miles in his sneakers to help raise awareness and funds for the wounded warrior project.

This year, with some help from family and members of the National Guard, he ran in his combat boots and service uniform. Blair heads to basic training next month.

"I'm so proud of him, you know? He is doing a wonderful thing and I'm so proud of the man he is becoming," said his mother, Lynette Blair.

Blair and his family ran past Kay Moist's home near Elysburg.

"As soon as I saw him and his dad and family I just wanted to run out and give them a donation for what they do and I'm so thankful," said Kay Moist of Upper Augusta Township

By mile 23, a big sign let Blair know he'd almost made it to his finish line at Knoebels. While he may have been exhausted, he said the experience is well worth it.

"If all I have to do is run 23 miles to get someone a prosthetic leg or an arm so they can go lift again or go run again, I will do that. That is a very small sacrifice I have to make for them," Blair said.

So far, Blair raised about $2,700 in total this year for the wounded warrior project.
