HARRISBURG -- Governor Tom Wolf has chosen his nominee to lead the Pennsylvania State Police. He is a former trooper who spent 30 years on the force.

Tyree Blocker retired in 2005 with the rank of major. In the 10 years since he left the state police, he worked as a police and security adviser.

Blocker lives in the Philadelphia area and owns a fitness corporation.

State senators voted down Governor Wolf's first choice, Marcus Brown, last month.

Some state troopers were angry Brown chose to wear a state police uniform despite never serving with the PSP.
