Update: Martin Kelly, 32, of Hazle Township was taken into custody and arraigned Tuesday morning on a number of drug charges. The state attorney general's office now says it was ecstasy, not methamphetamine being manufactured.

HAZLE TOWNSHIP -- Hazmat crews, firefighters and investigators were on the scene of a suspected drug lab at a home in Luzerne County.

Part of the road was shut down as authorities continue to carry things out of the house.

The attorney general's office is handling the investigation in the home on Ridge Avenue in Hazle Township.

They have not released the details of exactly what is happening, but crews on scene say that this is probably the largest meth lab they have ever investigated.

For hours, hazmat crews have been removing evidence of the meth lab, lining the backyard with large glass containers and buckets allegedly used to cook the meth.

"I'm not surprised at all. I knew they were doing something. I knew something was going on, but I couldn't imagine it was this big," said Dean McKernean of Hazle Township. "I knew they were doing something but I didn't think they were doing meth."

Investigators arrived at the home on Ridge Avenue in the morning and have been on the scene so long because they say this was quite a large operation.

So much so, officials asked people who lived nearby to leave the area because they are concerned the chemicals inside the home could explode.

"I was at work and my wife texted me and said there was a meth lab next door to my parents house," said Ray Galbaiti of Hazle Township. "But, yeah, they were told they couldn't enter, and they were out of the home for at least four or five hours."

Galbaiti rushed home to check on his parents and joined the growing crowd outside their home. The crowd was shocked at all the stuff crews were pulling out of the home.

"Hearing some of the state police talking about this is the biggest one they've ever seen and potentially it could've taken out a block either way. It kind of makes me upset," added Galbaiti.

Two people were taken from the home and arrested. There is no word from the attorney general's office on what charges they face.

The attorney general's office hopes to have more details on what was going on inside the home in Hazle Township on Tuesday.
