WILLIAMSPORT -- We have been talking the last few days about the perfect summer weather and many people in our area are saying, "It's about time."

This is one of the longest stretches of dry weather this summer and Newswatch 16 found people enjoying that in Lycoming County.

The sun was shining through the clouds and folks in Williamsport say they've been waiting all year for a stretch of summer days like this.

"We can't complain because winter time we can't wait for the heat and the heat time, the summer time we can't wait for the winter, so this is beautiful. This is just right," said Aronda Hill.

Customers looking for locally grown fruits and veggies stopped by Frank's Produce Stand.

"I've been waiting for this to come so I can purchase some vegetables," said Hill.

Owner Frank Welch stayed busy. He says when the sun comes out, it helps business.

"It helps it quite a bit, yeah, to be honest with you. It brings the people out, you know," said Welch.

Carolyn Medis lives down the road she was hopeful the warm weather would bring people out to her yard sale.

"Perfect day for a yard sale. People been stopping by, they have been very nice,” said Carolyn Medis.

While her customers walked through the heat, she stayed in the shade.

"I'm staying on the porch where it's cool. Everytime I go in the yard it's hot,” said Medis.

After spending part of the morning in the sun, families at Splash Cove in Memorial Park looked like they have the right idea. They spent their day poolside.

"We are here because we were looking for something to do that was different and we wanted to try the new water slide, so we thought we would make a day of it and here we are," said Katrina Shimp.

"The weather is hot. It's beautiful. We don't feel like sitting inside," said another woman.

Doing handstands in the pool and giant cannonballs into the water, Memorial Park campers were having some fun at Splash Cove, which opened this summer.

“It has a diving board and a slide and that little mushroom thing over there," said Jack Trepanowski.

"I get to see almost all of my friends from school and the counselors," said Melesse Buxton from Williamsport.

Luckily for these campers and all summer lovers the Newswatch 16 meteorologists say the warm temperatures will continue into the weekend with some added humidity.
