TUNKHANNOCK -- The family of a man who died after being pursued in a high-speed chase does not feel justice is being served.

The family of Stephen Sudosky of Shickshinny left the Wyoming County courthouse in tears. His sister, Denise Hackling, held a photo of Sudosky, who died last year, two weeks after being badly injured in a crash near Dallas.

"We miss him terribly and we shouldn't have to go to a grave to see him now," Hackling said.

The incident happened in December after police say Sudosky and another man, Lucas Davidson of Meshoppen, got into an argument over alleged deer baiting by Sudosky. The dispute led to Davidson pursuing Sudosky in a high-speed chase from Wyoming County into Luzerne County.

Newswatch 16 was at the scene on Upper Demunds Road near Dallas shortly after authorities say Sudosky lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree.

"It's a sad situation, I'll tell you that. His birthday's Christmas Eve and mine's Christmas Day. 50 years we celebrated together. It's over now," said the victim's father, Stephen Sudosky Sr.

Davidson pleaded guilty to one count of reckless endangerment at the Wyoming County Courthouse Thursday.

The district attorney's office contends reckless endangerment is the highest charge it could seek, partly because evidence shows Sudosky played a role in his own death. Still, Sudosky's family says even if Davidson receives the maximum sentence of two years, they still won't have justice.

"It was very hard to sit back in that courtroom and be quiet. And we had to, we had to," said Hackling.

A sentencing date hasn't been scheduled yet, but could be sometime next month.
