It's an early morning workout for the Lakeland football team. Guiding some 50 football players is strength and conditioning coach Meade Beebe.

"So the main focus of our program is to obviously get the kids stronger, so by getting them stronger helps them increase their performance, decreases their chances of getting injured," said Meede Beebe.

The weight room is open year round and Beebe is on spot if the kids have a question.

"As a tight end you have to be able to outrun kids and you have to be able to block the bigger guys. So it's the most important thing when you come on the field and off the field you always end up in the weight room," said Zach Polito-Lakeland Senior LB/TE.

"The biggest part of football is the strength. You have to be stronger than the guy beside you and across from you. You don't want to be pushed around during football. Do you like what Meade is doing? I like it a lot. It's helping everybody," said Eddie Cavalier-Lakeland Junior OT.

Lakeland senior tailback Garth Estadt can see the physical results from being in this program.

"My squat has increased about 100lbs this off-season and my bench about 50lbs. Can you see the difference over the four years that you have been playing varsity here for Jeff? Oh! absolutely Coach Wasilchak got me up to speed from my sophomore year and now I am ahead of the game," said Garth Estadt.

"We're peaking our strength right now. During camp we won't really lift due to time restraints. We'll have them focus on recovery during recovery stations using cold tub, rolling with PBC rollers, stretching to help them recover from beating up their bodies during the two-a-days," again said Meade.

Once the Chiefs are done in the weight room practice moved outside all part of summer conditioning. Lakeland trying to improve on that (4-6) record from a year ago.
