Greg Kriner- The Director of Parks and Recreation at the Kingston Recreational Center sets up for another summer basketball game.

"We have from Bloomsburg to Benton all the way up into Dunmore. We have Holy Cross. We have West Scranton. We have out to Crestwood. We have Hazleton and then we have the Back Mountain teams in here," said Greg Kriner.

Using a 40 minute running clock there's a new game every hour. Teams shuffling in and out working on skills in-game situations.

"Summer rec league is really important to us because we get a lot of experience with our teammates that are younger, and they get to play against other teams and get a feel for what the game is," said Asdone Hooper-Hanover Area senior basketball player.

The (Abby's) Macko and Murphy from Crestwood are here this summer putting in the work, as their new head coach Ed Stepanski keeps a close eye on his team.

"It's a little nerve-wracking, but it's good to get a new coach and get a new feel for everything. He's been great and he's had open gyms and it's all been good," said Abbie Macko.

With the recent playoff success for teams like Dunmore and Old Forge who play here has made the popularity of this league grow each and every year.

"It's really fun because it can prep us for our season, and we can get the most experience out of playing the best teams around here," said Abbey Murphy.

"They've played here for two years now-both Old Forge and Dunmore and seeing Old Forge in the state championship game last year was excellent," again said Greg.

Next year marks the 20th anniversary for summer hoops here in Kingston. Greg Kriner hopes for 20 more.
