KINGSTON -- As a parent, you hate to take your kids to a playground that is full of graffiti. Unfortunately vandals left a mess at a park in Kingston.

There were dozens of signs with graffiti written all over them. Some of it attempts to be sweet, like one that has a drawing of a heart.

Others are so vulgar it couldn't be shown on TV.

“It's bad for the kids to see that stuff,” said Bobby O'Connell of Kingston.

“I thought this kind of stuff was kind of over, I haven't seen that in a while,” said Jim Franco, also of Kingston.

But parks officials in Kingston say the graffiti is difficult to keep up with. One spot, for instance wasn't there just Wednesday.

“It's a battle that we fight constantly,” said Adam Gober,  director of public works, adding the amount of vandalism happening at Kingston’s playgrounds vary, and he's not sure why.

"It's definitely not consistent. I mean, there is there is more in some than others. Some there's none."

The playground on Dorrance Street and Schuyler  Avenue in Kingston is clean with no signs of vandalism. It's a stark contrast to the playground at Korn Street Park.

"Kids that should know better, maybe they should learn about what they're spray painting,” Franco said.

Newswatch 16 told police about the graffiti, who told us they didn't receive a complaint about it. Now they want anyone with information to call them.
