WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP -- An out of control truck went on a wild ride near Wilkes-Barre.

The truck plowed through three utility poles around 6 a.m. on Friday. Four porches also have some damage on Blackman Street near Casey Avenue.

Authorities believe the driver lost control of his vehicle because of a medical problem, then plowed right through three utility poles and slammed through four porches before finally coming to a stop.

"Oh my gosh, someone just crashed into three poles and destroyed grandma's flowers and our sign,” said Emily Makaravage, who was visiting at her grandmother’s house on Blackman Street.

Some people were inside those homes, getting ready for their day when the truck driver lost control-- and they heard a big bang.

"Oh, I was just wondering what he was doing, what was happening, you know. It was early in the morning, you know?” said Wilma White, who lives two doors down from where the truck stopped.

Crews worked to repair those utility poles for most of the day, closing one lane on the busy street and causing traffic delays for almost a mile.

"It's crazy. I always travel this route because I like going to K-mart the back way. And you never have this much traffic,” said Linda Nesbitt of Wilkes-Barre.

But drivers weren't the only ones affected by the crash. It's also costing one flower shop business.

"Part of the parking lot is blocked off over here, so I don't think people know they can pull in from this side,” said Pat Reardon of the Flower Tent.

Blackman Street is down to one lane until crews finish fixing the utility poles. They expect the work to be finished over the weekend.

Authorities said the driver of the truck was the only person who was injured. He is expected to be okay.
