LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- With July being one of the most popular months for summer road trips,  Newswatch 16 was live with new information on why AAA in our area said our tires are tired!

Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey also has a look at how to make sure your vehicle is ready for the long haul, ways to avoid the five most costly repair jobs, and details on free resources to help you make sure you’re not “being taken for a ride” on your next tune-up.

AAA told us what to look out for when it comes to your tires.

Make sure the tires are consistently inflated to last longer. The tread on a tire should be at least 2/32nds of an inch deep.

According to AAA to determine if your tires have enough tread you can insert a penny with Lincoln’s head upside down. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, you should replace the tires.

Continually inspect your tires for worn areas or cracks.

It is best to have your tires rotated after every oil change to keep wear on your tires even.
