EAST STROUDSBURG -- There was special recognition in the Poconos Tuesday for those who helped save the life of a marathon runner in May.
John Burrows had the chance to see the people who jumped into action when he had a heart attack during the Run for the Red Marathon.
The American Red Cross of Monroe County honored Stephen Hettle, a Stroud Area Regional Police Officer and fellow runner, at their annual dinner in East Stroudsburg.
Burrows, of New Jersey, had a heart attack at mile 20 and is grateful to be alive, thanks to them.
"They really put in 100 percent effort to make sure I'm still here so I think anything they get is well worth it," said Burrows.
"It's awesome," added Hettle, "It's a very good feeling for me. It's a good thing for our police department, it's a good thing for our community."
Burrows said he's doing well and wants to return to the Poconos and complete the Run for the Red Marathon in 2016.
