ALLENTOWN — A jury has found Anthony Heath guilty of first-degree murder for killing a woman from Tamaqua and dumping her body in Jim Thorpe.

The trial started last week in Lehigh County.

The jury started deliberating this murder case just after noon Tuesday.

Anthony Heath was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly strangling Angela Steigerwalt of Tamaqua in 2014.

Heath represented himself at trial and even testified in his own defense. He admits the two were in a sexual relationship.

Prosecutors say Heath strangled Steigerwalt with an electrical cord in the bedroom of his apartment on Chew Street in Allentown and then dumped her body in Jim Thorpe.

Investigators found a Wal-Mart bag at that scene in Carbon County with a receipt that led them to Heath. Surveillance video showed Heath purchasing a lighter and lighter fluid.

The jury found Heath guilty of the first-degree murder charge and all other counts.
