WEST BUFFALO TOWNSHIP -- Police in Union County arrested a man who they believe held up a bank with a shotgun.

Investigators say Jose Gonzalez, 53, of Mifflinburg robbed West Milton State Bank in West Buffalo Township, near Mifflinburg.

Police tell us Gonzalez entered the bank around 11 a.m., pulled out a shotgun, aimed at two different tellers and demanded cash.

He got away with over $3,700.

A witness in the bank's parking lot called 911 and Gonzalez was caught just minutes later at the intersection of East Walnut Street and Forest Hill Road in Mifflinburg just outside of the Runkle Insurance Agency.

Dwight Runkle says he heard loud noises and saw police officers outside his office with their guns drawn. Runkle says he saw a bag of money and a gun inside Gonzalez's car.

"There was a grey Monte Carlo sitting here with one man in it. She had her gun drawn and was hollering for him to get out of the car. They told him to exit the car with his hands in the air which he did. Then they cuffed him and put him on the ground," said Runkle.

Gonzalez was taken to the state police barracks near Milton before being led off to the Union County jail. He faces a long list of charges including robbery and theft.
