HAZLETON -- It took detectives in Hazleton just 72 hours to find a suspect wanted for an execution-style homicide.

The grieving family of the victim says they're trying to forgive.

Police say Raphael Mora-Polanco shot Jorge Marrero to death execution-style on West 4th Street near Alter Street in Hazleton.

The family of the victim says they just want justice: to see Mora-Polanco behind bars for the rest of his life.

Police believe Mora-Polanco not only shot Jorge Marrero in the face, but chased him down as he tried to get away and then shot him again in the head, killing him.

"It was hard for me to know I lost my husband in that type of way."

Newswatch 16 met Marrero's wife Cynthia Diaz at Fierro Funeral Home in Hazleton. She says Mora-Polanco should have never killed her husband so brutally.

"My husband is yelling out, 'Don't kill me!' and he still killed him. He killed my husband. He killed a son. He killed a father," Diaz said.

"Marrero used to live in the 400 block of Poplar Street in Hazleton. Neighbors say he was a good guy, but did have his share of troubles.

"He's a good humble dude, you know. He just made a lot of mistakes. He just got in the wrong path," said neighbor Angel Rodriguiez.

Neighbors on West 4th Street in Hazleton where the shooting happened are glad to hear police caught Mora-Polanco, who they named as a suspect.

"Don't want to be outside after dark, but it's a little bit safer," said neighbor Bill Patrone.

Because of the execution-style homicide, police say Mora-Polanco could be eligible for the death penalty. But Marrero's wife says she just wants to see Mora-Polanco spend the rest of his life behind bars.

"I serve a loving God. And we believe that as hard as it could be, we have to learn how to learn to forgive," said Diaz.

Court papers show police named Mora-Polanco as a suspect after a witness identified him as the shooter and surveillance video obtained by police backed up the witness's statement.

Police have not given a motive for the homicide, and the district attorney has not said if she will seek the death penalty in this case.
