LONG POND -- More and more NASCAR fans are making their way to the Pocono Raceway leading up to Sunday's Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400.

It can be said that Long Pond becomes the third largest city in Pennsylvania on race Sunday given how many fans come out to watch. That's why the raceway has something new for them this year.

The sounds are about the same, but the sights are a little different this year for fans.

"I can remember the first time I was here," said Gene Delp of Fleetwood. "All that was here was a three quarter mile flat track. That was probably in 1970, it's changed a lot."

As soon as you pull up, you'll notice the new tunnels and even a waterfall, leading fans inside with their very own walkway.

"I think the aesthetics has improved tremendously," said Mike Marino of New Jersey. "Just coming into the tunnel you notice it instantly."

What you don't see just yet are the two new 60-foot-high big screen towers. Those should be completed by end of July to replace the temporary ones currently used.

"We're excited about the potential of what these boards are going to do and their software and how we can increase the fan experience at the Pocono Raceway," said Brandon Igdalsky, CEO of Pocono Raceway. "That's really what it's all about."

"People down in the infield that like being close to the action can still look up and see what else is going on the rest of the track," said Gary Eberle of Fleetwood.  "I think it's a great improvement."

"Not only for us fans but for the teams as well," added Ryan Neufer of Bloomsburg. "The person on top of the haulers can't see what's going on because of the frontal view."

Making the view all the better for people like first time Pocono Raceway visitor Megan Eberle.

"I haven't watched much yet but I'm really excited," she added.

It's more than just big screens and waterfalls; there is a new walkway for fans.

"It's really helped accommodate the fans coming with just the ease of getting in and out," Marino added.

Sunday's race is slated to start at 1 p.m.
