LONG POND -- Thousands upon thousands of NASCAR fans are making their way to the Poconos for this weekend's Axalta We Paint Winners 400.
As the cars whip by during practice and qualifying runs, the real action is already underway in the infield at Pocono Raceway.
"We have the bar for the evening entertainment," said Teresa Cartwright of New York. "We also have a portable campfire and a smoker for the food all day long, and the cooler is full of not only beer but water to keep us all hydrated."
As campers continued to roll in and brisket was being smoked, fans tell us planning for the big weekend isn't something taken lightly.
"Probably a good week to prep and then get here and it's a good six or seven hours to set up," said Robin Mccomb of Long Island.
What better way to talk to Mark Kline of Wilkes-Barre than atop one of the trailers he and his friends have stationed near turn three.
"It's a family atmosphere now," Kline explained. "There's a lot of kids. Everybody has a good time. It's great when the cars are on the track. Everybody is standing up and cheering. That's the best part of the whole thing."
A family atmosphere for people like Mark Pronitis of Clarks Summit. This race weekend is extra special for him because it's the first time he's brought his son to the race.
"It's something I did when I was younger and hopefully they'll like it in the future," said Pronitis.
Sunday's Sprint Cup Series Race is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
