AVOCA -- Every day thousands of members of our Armed Forces are away from their families. It's a sacrifice they make to fight for the freedom we have.

One military family from Schuylkill County got to reunite with their loved one and Newswatch 16 was there to capture that moment.

Liz Decker and her two daughters were anxious for a moment they've been waiting for, for nearly a year.

"The U.S.S. Carl Vincent came back from a 10 month deployment, so he's flying in today and this is the first time we are seeing him so we are very excited," said Liz Decker of McAdoo.

The "he" she refers to is her husband and the father of their two little girls, Anna and Lilly. They wore shirts that say "Welcome home Daddy" while mommy had a sign showing how long her family had been apart.

"It's tough and he missed a lot with the little one. She's walking now and when he left she was just starting to roll over. It's sad but exciting. It's a little bit of everything," Decker added.

All those feelings were released in the moment little Anna saw her daddy at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. She called out to "daddy" or as most know him, Petty Officer Logan Decker, and ran up to him. He quickly scooped her up and embraced her. A small crowd of passersby stopped and clapped as the family embraced.

Petty Officer Decker has been serving our country in the U.S. Navy.

"Oh, it's just hard to describe it with words. It's so wonderful to be able to see my girls again. I have no words," said Petty Officer Logan Decker.

Decker will only be home for two weeks and he told us how he plans to spend that time.

"My family, rain or shine, I don't care what it is. Just to know that I am right there with them it doesn't matter. I can go sit on the couch, I'll be perfectly happy," Decker added.
