The Environmental Protection Agency released a study Thursday about the effects of natural gas drilling on drinking water.
According to the EPA, there is no evidence the drilling has had a widespread effect on the nation’s water supply.
The EPA says it did find some cases of contaminated drinking water, but it says the number of those cases are small compared to the number of wells in the country.
The study focused on “fracking,” the drilling process by which water and chemicals are forced into the ground. The fluids are forced underground under pressure to crack rocks and release natural gas.
