WILLIAMSPORT -- Some people in Williamsport are up fed with shootings and violence in the city. Now they are challenging others to make a difference in the community.

"Williamsport. Where you at? This is Assistant Chief Miller Williamsport Police. I'm challenging everyone in Williamsport to an arm wrestling competition," said Assistant Chief Miller from Williamsport.

If the challenge police in Williamsport posted on Facebook grabbed your attention, there’s more where that came from. There are athletic challenges, eating contests, and a chance to win a car.

It's all part of "Where you at now, Williamsport?" a community challenge day to help get the community out and active. It's set for this weekend at Lose Park on Memorial Avenue.

“Bring the community together. You can do it. Pray about it and it will come to you," said Darrick Rizzo from Williamsport.

Darrick Rizzo is an entrepreneur and motivational speaker.  He grew up in the city with help from Ricky Stryker and other friends he put together the event.

"Basically there have been a lot of problems going on lately in the park. We already know what happened in Memorial Park. I didn't want that to happen here," said Rizzo.

What better way to entice people than with free prizes now including one of these two cars? For Rizzo the real reason he's doing this, to bring the community together.

"There is so much activity going on in Williamsport that is so called negative that I want to bring the positive back," said Rizzo.

"You're not alone you are going to see people who care just as much as you do. Our community is connected heart by heart," said Tonya Anderson from Williamsport.

"Sunday hopefully we'll look back and we'll say this was bigger than we thought and we'll build some relationships and it will be a springboard for things to come," said Assistant Chief Tim Miller.

“Where you at now, Williamsport?” starts at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lose Park. You must show up at the park to win any of the prizes.  Click here to sign up for events.
