WILKES-BARRE -- A search is underway for whoever fired shots Tuesday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre.

Neighbors in the Rolling Mill Hill section of Wilkes-Barre tell Newswatch 16 they saw a group of people fire shots at a moving car.

That gunfire happened around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, just after some students had gotten off the school bus and were walking on Brown Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Police swarmed the neighborhood shortly after the shots were fired. They were looking for shell casings and talking to witnesses about what they saw or heard.

Meanwhile, the owner of a car that was apparently not involved in the incident but was hit by three bullets says she just bought the car Monday.

Another resident on this block of Brown Street says he saw the whole thing happen. He says he saw four people standing on the sidewalk. Then, as a car drove down the block, the group of people fired at the vehicle then scattered.

"It is a bad neighborhood anymore. Everything is. To me, it's all going to hell. It's terrible," said resident Jack Hughes.

Police are now investigating what led to the gunfire and who was involved. They say no victims have turned up so far.
