WILKES-BARRE — Donald Bachman was shot to death outside of his home on Willow Street in south Wilkes-Barre almost three weeks ago. Since then, authorities haven’t revealed much about how it happened or why.

“I definitely lost some sleep,” said Judi Bachman-Comisky.

Judi Bachman-Comisky is Donald Bachman’s sister. She also lives on Willow Street, just two blocks from where Bachman used to live.  Since he was killed, she says she has noticed a change in the neighborhood.

“I have seen more police and it has been more comforting because I know they haven’t given up,” Bachman-Comisky said.

“We have been working nonstop on this case,” said Luzerne County D.A. Stefanie Salavantis, adding video taken from security cameras from Bachman’s home may indeed help police track down a killer.

“It is a part of the active investigation. It cannot be made public, but it is relevant to our investigation.”

Salavantis wouldn’t describe what the video shows, but Bachman’s sister believes her brother’s passion for reporting crimes likely contributed to his death.

“I would think, just in knowing him and how he operated, I would think he definitely would have confronted people,” said Bachman-Comisky.

Police aren’t saying if Bachman was confrontational the morning of his murder, but the city does have guidelines on what to do if someone sees a crime happening.

“We want the community’s help. We want them to be our eyes, but let the police department actually take care of whatever emergency is happening at that time,” said Chief Robert Hughes of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department.

Salavantis encouraged anyone who may have information about the shooting to contact her office.
